Project description

Empire Southwest worked with Adaptive Architects to expand its original company headquarters building located in Mesa, Arizona to serve a variety of functions.  Empire needed more administrative office space in addition to new large equipment work environments required to allow Empire to expand their services offered to their client base.

Adaptive created a new two-story administrative office addition that is compatible and consistent with the existing facility and which melds seamlessly with the original structure. The new “Component Rebuild Center” addition is a single-story large equipment maintenance and repair facility arranged in an assembly line format that is equipped with an array of jib cranes to facilitate the work planned. The project includes a new parts and equipment warehouse space, a fluid testing lab, engine and transmission dynamometer testing shops, and a full function paint shop. The building addition is comprised of concrete tilt up panels, exposed steel, glass and masonry.

A new equipment display area was provided at the northwest corner of the site to showcase and display a collection of Empire’s large tractors and other equipment and machinery. In addition, two new covered parking areas were added which utilize elevated equipment platforms to support an extensive photovoltaic system that provides a large portion of the electrical needs for the entire Empire Southwest campus.
